Holding Differently, Containing Distress: Information session and survey launch

Wed 30 Sep 2026 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM BST Online, MS Teams

Join us online on 30 September for an information event where you will hear directly from the project team about the Holding Differently, Containing Distress project and survey.

The survey has been designed to gather information from the Scottish Residential Child Care workforce around the use of physical restraint, the conditions under which physical restraint is happening, and efforts to reduce or eliminate its use.

There will be dedicated time in the session to complete the survey and your answers will help shape a national picture of what's happening on the ground.

When is the event taking place?

  •     Date: Wednesday 30 September
  •     Time: 10am - 11.30am
  •     Location: Online, MS Teams

Why attend?

You'll hear from the project lead, Dr Laura Steckley, and Cecile Remy, the project's Research and Knowledge Mobilisation Associate. The session will provide an opportunity to:

  • Hear about the project and survey
  • Understand how your answers to the survey will be used
  • Be able to ask questions and have them answered
  • Provide dedicated time to fill in the survey

Who should attend?

The event is aimed at those working within Residential Child Care. The survey is only open to those within the Residential Child Care workforce.

This includes residential child care workers, managers, education staff, teachers, direct care workers, learning development personnel working in Scottish residential child care settings.
