Gifted World Experience 2023

Join us for 3 days and explore and experience Giftedness from the inside out.
“Who are gifted individuals? What is asynchrony? How do they experience their inner world?”
This first of its kind conference is geared towards interested adults, parents, educators, professionals, and children, with and without any prior experience of knowing the gifted.
Giftedness is a misunderstood term
It is a term which is used by the masses and many times is misinterpreted. The reality is that, even ten years ago, there were generally no programs to support the needs of the gifted, not only in Greece but in Europe as a whole, in regards to their neurodivergence. There exist and have existed organizations and centers that are involved with the education of a person who excels academically, but not one that focuses on the person themselves; the gifted individual and their self-development.
A look into the inner world
We are turning the focus on giftedness from the outside to inside; to turn the focus of this group onto the gifted person. There will be a lens on the way that they experience the world, their needs in it, and how the environment can contribute to this. For parents, teachers, friends… everyone. For the gifted individual's well-being, for themselves first, from the inside out.
The Columbus Group definition as the foundation and inspiration for GWE
The goals, objectives, and guiding principles of the Gifted World Experience Conference 2023 are based on the definition of giftedness from the Columbus Group, created in 1991.
“Giftedness is asynchronous development in which advanced cognitive abilities and heightened intensity combine to create inner experiences and awareness that are qualitatively different from the norm. This asynchrony increases with higher intellectual capacity. The uniqueness of the gifted renders them particularly vulnerable and requires modifications in parenting, teaching and counseling in order for them to develop optimally.” (Columbus Group, 1991)
