Mountains That Take Wing: Angela Davis & Yuri Kochiyama (directed, produced, and edited by C.A. Griffith & H. L. T. Quan) is a historically rich and unique documentary about two formidable women who share a profound passion for justice: Angela Davis, an internationally renowned scholar, writer and activist, and Yuri Kochiyama, a revered grassroots community activist and Nobel Peace Prize nominee. A talk with Yuri’s granddaughter, Akemi Kochiyama, will follow the screening.

Akemi Kochiyama is a Harlem-based writer, scholar-activist and consultant whose work is focused on community building, solidarity and social justice. The granddaughter of human rights activist, Yuri Kochiyama, Akemi is co-director of the Yuri Kochiyama Solidarity Project and co-editor of Passing It On: A Memoir by Yuri Kochiyama.
