We’ll discuss the science behind Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) as a carbon dioxide removal pathway, and why it is one of the few approaches available today that can realistically scale to the gigatonne level needed to make a meaningful impact on climate change. We’ll talk about the key benefits (scale, cost and co-benefits), the key challenges (precise quantification and the cost of measurement) and the use of advanced geochemical models in overcoming these. We’ll also cover how this ties into net-zero and why carbon removal credits are a critical part of the solution and not just an opportunity for people to avoid cutting their emissions!
