Journalism Safety Research Network Online Symposium on AI and Journalism

The JSRN, hosted by the Centre for Freedom of the Media (CFOM), in the Department of Journalism Studies at the University of Sheffield, is made up of over 250 members from over 50 countries. The JSRN brings together researchers with a common interest, concern or engagement with the safety of journalists, the issues of impunity and the promotion of free and independent journalism.

This symposium will focus on issues concerning the transformative role of AI in journalism and content creation; the ethical challenges of AI in journalism; issues concerning AI and mis/disinformation and how newsrooms are engaging with AI. The online symposium will provide a chance for researchers to come together to discuss the future of journalism. The symposium is aimed at understanding the issues that journalists face and devising solutions as to how these issues can be best tackled.
