Understanding a council’s medium-term financial plan (MTFP) is key to effective, forward-looking scrutiny but it can often feel complex or hard to influence. This learning session will create space to explore what good financial scrutiny looks like in practice and how it can add real value to decision-making.
Together, we’ll look at:
- How the MTFP shapes priorities, resources, and long-term plans
- What helps councillors and officers work together to question assumptions and explore risks
- How scrutiny can be involved early and consistently to strengthen transparency and accountability
- Practical ways to build confidence in discussing financial issues and connecting them to outcomes for residents
The session is designed to be interactive and reflective - a chance to share experiences, ask questions, and learn from others about what works (and what doesn’t) when it comes to scrutinising medium-term finance.
Book your space now and we will send you a link a week before, along with further details.
