Sustainable Healthcare Cafe for Nurses and Midwives only
After completing the workshop, you are invited to join our regular 90-minute online Sustainable Healthcare Café sessions.
These informal drop-in sessions provide a supportive space to continue your sustainability journey through collaboration, shared learning, and peer connection.
The cafés offer an opportunity to reconnect with others passionate about sustainable healthcare, share progress on your work, and hear how others are applying their learning in practice. You can seek advice, feedback, and practical support for your sustainability projects from both peers and Centre for Sustainable Healthcare (CSH) specialists, who are on hand to help guide and troubleshoot challenges.
We are pleased to welcome special guests to this Cafe from the NHS Supply Chain:
How NHS Supply Chain Clinical Teams Can Support Sustainability Projects?
If your Trust is undertaking a sustainability or net zero project, NHS Supply Chain clinical teams can provide practical support to help identify opportunities, engage suppliers, and access relevant procurement data.
Our support can include:
- Understanding the national offer – We can help you understand what sustainable products, technologies and solutions are already available through NHS Supply Chain frameworks and contracts, including alternatives that may reduce waste, carbon emissions or resource consumption.
- Connecting you with suppliers – We can facilitate engagement with suppliers to discuss their sustainability strategies, net zero commitments, product innovations, packaging reduction initiatives, circular economy programmes, take-back schemes, reprocessing options, and environmental performance data.
- Sharing supplier-led support opportunities – Many suppliers can provide educational resources, implementation support, product trials, audits, training, and sustainability expertise to support local improvement projects. We can help identify and coordinate these opportunities.
- Providing procurement insights and data – We can work with NHS Supply Chain data and analytics teams to help Trusts understand purchasing activity through NHS Supply Chain contracts, supporting baseline assessments, opportunity identification, and measurement of project outcomes.
- Supporting product evaluation and change programmes – Clinical teams can provide independent clinical input on proposed product changes, helping ensure sustainability objectives are balanced with patient safety, clinical effectiveness, usability, and implementation considerations.
- Identifying best practice and collaboration opportunities – We can share learning from national and regional initiatives and help connect organisations facing similar sustainability challenges to encourage knowledge sharing and collaborative approaches.
Whether you are looking for motivation, accountability, or fresh ideas, these sessions are designed to support your ongoing development. They run regularly throughout the year, and you are welcome to attend as often as you wish.
