The Ontario Certified Crop Advisor Association (CCA) and Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association (OSCIA) have partnered to deliver training and educational resources to Ontario agrologists. With a focus on cover crops, nitrogen management, and rotational grazing, these sessions will support the objectives of the On-Farm Climate Action Fund.
On Wednesday, October 1st, tune in to hear ICCA of the Year winner Dr. Lee Briese for an interactive presentation titled "Strategic Cover Cropping: Tailored Solutions for Farm-Specific Challenges and Herbicide Integration". Dr. Briese will discuss his experience matching cover crop species with specific issues on each farm, such as erosion, excess water, or compaction, and selecting herbicides that fit into that system.
Dr. Lee Briese is an independent crop consultant with Centrol Crop Consulting based in central North Dakota. He provides traditional scouting services and agronomic advice to help farmers build customized systems to grow and manage crops profitably. He specializes in helping farmers adopt practices to protect and improve their soil and local environment including reduced till, no-till, cover crops, crop rotation and increased plant and economic diversity.
Funding for this project has been provided by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada through the Agricultural Climate Solutions (ACS) – On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF). This event is free to attend. To register you must answer two questions for the purpose of tracking attendance and outreach.
