The Ontario Certified Crop Advisor Association (CCA) and Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association (OSCIA) have partnered to deliver training and educational resources to Ontario agrologists. With a focus on cover crops, nitrogen management, and rotational grazing, these sessions will support the objectives of the On-Farm Climate Action Fund.
In this webinar, Dan Quinn dives deep into the complexities of nitrogen management in corn systems, highlighting why this nutrient remains a stubborn challenge despite decades of research and innovation. Nitrogen isn't going anywhere--literally or figuratively. Its management remains a moving target due to environmental variability, evolving crop genetics, and technological limitations. The solution? Control what you can: minimize losses, optimize timing, and tailor strategies to your field's unique conditions.
Dr. Dan Quinn is currently an Assistant Professor of Agronomy and the Extension Corn Specialist at Purdue University, beginning his role in the spring of 2021. Dr. Quinn earned his B.S. and M.S. in Crop and Soil Science at Michigan State University and his Ph.D. in Plant and Soil Science at the University of Kentucky. His interdisciplinary research and extension program at Purdue works to improve the overall production, profitability, and environmental performance of Midwestern U.S. corn systems. Currently, Dr. Quinn’s research program includes studies examining yield physiology, agronomic management intensities, precision technologies, nutrient management, and cover crop use in corn production systems using large-scale and small-plot field research trials.
Funding for this project has been provided by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada through the Agricultural Climate Solutions (ACS) – On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF). This event is free to attend. To register you must answer two questions for the purpose of tracking attendance and outreach.
