Cover Cropping in Ontario Vineyards

Wed 26 Nov 2025 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM EST Online, Zoom

The Ontario Certified Crop Advisor Association (CCA) and Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association (OSCIA) have partnered to deliver training and educational resources to Ontario agrologists. With a focus on cover crops, nitrogen management, and rotational grazing, these sessions will support the objectives of the On-Farm Climate Action Fund.

Kathryn Carter is the Fruit Specialist (Tender fruit and Grape) for the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agri-business (OMAFA). She is involved in the development, coordination and implementation of research projects that support Ontario’s tender fruit and grape industries. Currently she is involved in research projects focusing on the use of under vine cover crops in vineyards, soil health (orchards/vineyards) and chemical thinners for peach production.

Kathryn plays an important role in disseminating knowledge and information to the grape and tender fruit industries through articles, publications, factsheets and industry meetings. She holds a Master of Science in Environmental Biology from the University of Guelph, and a Bachelor of Science from Brock University.

Funding for this project has been provided by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada through the Agricultural Climate Solutions (ACS) – On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF). This event is free to attend. To register you must answer two questions for the purpose of tracking attendance and outreach.
