An Introduction to Rotational Grazing and Pasture Crop Production

Wed 11 Feb 2026 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM EST Online, Zoom

The Ontario Certified Crop Advisor Association (CCA) and Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association (OSCIA) have partnered to deliver training and educational resources to Ontario agrologists. With a focus on cover crops, nitrogen management, and rotational grazing, these sessions will support the objectives of the On-Farm Climate Action Fund.

This webinar is an introductory talk on rotational grazing and pasture crop production. Pasture management involves managing crop production, animal behaviour, and animal nutrition all at the same time. Forage quality is the interaction between crop production and animal nutrition. This presentation discusses how rotational grazing and pasture crop production work together to create a sustainable, productive forage system—one that supports animal health, improves soil function, and strengthens whole‑farm resilience.

Christine O’Reilly is the Forage and Grazing Specialist with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness. Her focus is on improving the productivity and profitability of forage crops. She sees a lot of opportunity for ruminant livestock farms to improve their margins through good grazing management. Christine joined the ministry in 2017 and is based out of the Lindsay office. No, she hasn’t drank too much coffee; she’s actually that excited about grazing management.

Funding for this project has been provided by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada through the Agricultural Climate Solutions (ACS) – On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF). This event is free to attend. To register you must answer two questions for the purpose of tracking attendance and outreach.
