Solar and Cover Crop Grazing Field Day

Join us on Friday, August 28 from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM for an on-farm field day exploring remote and targeted grazing, including under solar and through cover crop and crop residue grazing. Topics include temporary fencing tech, watering, species selection and timing, and more! 

Shady Creek Lamb Co. is a family-farm run by Chris Moore and Lyndsey Smith. Located within the Ottawa city limits near Kinburn, Shady Creek prides itself on producing tender, delicious lamb for the Ottawa Valley. The pair have been grazing commercial-scale solar since the fall of 2017. This a free event, open to anyone. Registration is required. Space is limited. 

Itinerary

10:00 AM: Meet at the solar grazing site. Exact meeting location to be sent to registrants prior to event. To access the site, please bring clean safety boots and a hard hat (if available). Some hard hats will be available for use, but number is limited.

11:30 AM: Travel independently to Covered Bridge Brewing for pizza lunch. 

12:45 PM: Meet at cover crop grazing location.

This event is eligible for credit towards in-person requirement for the Rotational Grazing Micro-Credential.

Funding for this project has been provided by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada through the Agricultural Climate Solutions (ACS) – On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF). This event is free to attend. To register you must answer two questions for the purpose of tracking attendance and outreach.
