CCA Webinar: Precision Conservation and Profit Mapping

Wed 23 Sep 2026 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM EDT Online, Zoom

The Ontario Certified Crop Advisor Association (CCA) and Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association (OSCIA) have partnered to deliver training and educational resources to Ontario agronomists. With the Precision Ag specialty recently opened to Ontario CCAs, there is an opportunity to broaden training related to sustainable agricultural practices.

This webinar will include a presentation on the GRCA Profit Mapping Project, a CCA/agronomist perspective on profit mapping, and a summary of OSCIA programs that can utilize this technology.

Anastassia Lagounova is a Conservation Specialist with the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA). She will present the outcomes and results of GRCA’s Profit Mapping Demonstration Project (2020-2024), which generated profitability maps for more than 4,000 acres to help growers evaluate management changes that can improve profitability while reducing environmental impacts. Anastassia will also discuss the Agriculture Conservation Planning Framework (ACPF) pilot project, a GIS-based toolbox developed by the USDA Agricultural Research Service that helps identify opportunities for conservation practices to improve water quality, manage runoff, and reduce erosion.

Aaron Breimer is an Ontario CCA and agronomist. Aaron has always felt at home in the world of agriculture. He grew up on a cash crop farm in Middlesex county, studied agronomy at the University of Guelph and has had a 25 year (and counting) career in agriculture. His past roles have including working in ag retail, originating grain, agricultural input sales, fertility recommendation and leveraging precision ag data/technology. In early 2024, Aaron established his own independent agricultural data consulting company where his focus is to make it easy for farmers to utilize the many layers of data they are collecting on their farms. He is also a passionate Certified Crop Advisor, having achieved his designation in 2003 and over the last 10 years being involved in a variety of roles in the governance of the program. Aaron was the first Ontario CCA to earn his Precision Ag specialty, and he was involved in the implementation of the GRCA profit mapping project. He will discuss the challenges and benefits of profit mapping from the agronomist's perspective.

Funding for this project has been provided by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada through the Agricultural Climate Solutions (ACS) – On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF). This event is free to attend.
