Liberating Land for Collective Care // Part 1
Sat 23 Nov 2024 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Kingsley Hall, E3 3HJ
Description
Join CFGN & the Blueprint Architects on Saturday 23rd November, for a day of learning about alternative models of financing, accessing and liberating land for community use in urban and rural settings.
We will hear from The Pathways to Land Project team, who have been researching barriers and financing for obtaining farmland in the UK amongst BPOC (Black + People Of Colour). Their recommendations draw on interviews and learning from the US, about BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour) farmers' experiences of accessing land. We will also be joined by members of LION (Land in Our Names), a BPOC grassroots land liberation collective, who will co-host discussion and reflection spaces.
The programme will also include:
~ Film Screening: “Everything’s Coming Together Whilst Everything’s Falling Apart: The Zad”
~ Talks and discussions on alternative models of land ownership with Community Led Housing London
~ Craft space
~ Child care
~ Shared vegan lunch
Ticket options
£1-5 sliding scale

Covid policy
As part of our commitment to resilient communities and justice, we have a covid policy in place to practise collective care and solidarity. We recognise that the pandemic isn’t over but is a mass disabling event that has disproportionately affected BPOC and disabled communities.
We ask in the spirit of solidarity and disability justice that you DON’T attend the event if you have any covid symptoms or feel unwell/have symptoms you believe may be contagious.
We ask that you test before coming and encourage mask wearing during the gathering if you feel comfortable doing so.
We will have an air purifier at the event and will ensure air flow through the indoor spaces, so please bring extra layers to stay warm with open windows.
If you have any questions or suggestions around this or any accessibility points, please get in touch.

Safer Spaces
We are working together to ensure that this is a non-oppressive, respectful and accessible space. We have a Safer Spaces Policy adapted from the LWA’s 2021 AGM - feel free to add your comments, thoughts and ideas to this. We are also creating a safer spaces skillshare /tool kit where attendees and organisers can propose different strategies for bringing the policy and intentions to life.
Childcare
If you are bringing children, let us know. There will be child friendly activities to enable caregivers/parents to participate in the day.
Food and Drink
We will be providing a vegan lunch. We invite you to bring any snacks or drinks that will help you to feel nourished and at home.
