ONLINE: Foluke Taylor therapeuteX: Common Groundings with Poets, Therapists, and Other Freedom Dreamers

In this presentation, Foluke will draw from Black feminist writing, including her own, to think about writing as a liberatory, world-building practice. The invitation to join this event has multiple threads. It is an invitation to be with Black feminist futurity and a future that can be lived now. It is an invitation to consider a specific vision of social transformation - a world without the mass caging and exclusion of human life - and the therapeutics required to usher it into being. It is an invitation into questions of common grounds:
   What connects therapists, poets, and abolitionists?
   What is made possible when they (we) move together
   What supports the enlivening of collective imagination?

It is also an invitation to participate - to listen-with and/or dream-with and/or write-with as we go.

Foluke Taylor is a therapist, writer, and author of Unruly Therapeutic: Black Feminist Writings and Practices in Living Room (2023 W.W. Norton). Her research focuses on Black feminisms, creative writing, and abolitionist world-building, exploring therapeutic possibility through an engagement with Black feminist poetics. Foluke has an abiding passion for spaces that nurture emergent formations and as such is a big fan of dance floors, living rooms, and kitchen tables. She is accredited with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
