Description
Members of the Busch Trio — Omri Epstein, piano; Mathieu van Bellen, violin; and Ori Epstein, cello — are joined by Gary Levinson, violin and artistic director of CMSFW, and D.J. Cheek, principal viola for the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra.
Program:
- Ludwig van Beethoven - Piano Trio in B-flat Major, WoO 39
- Ludwig van Beethoven - Piano Trio No. 1 in E-flat Major, Op. 1, No. 1
- César Franck - Piano Quintet in F Minor
The Pre-Concert Conversation starts at 1:15 p.m. as Gary Levinson adds insights about the composers and context to the music.
The Busch Trio, based in Amsterdam, formed more than 12 years ago after brothers Omri and Ori Epstein met Mathieu van Bellen at London’s Royal College of Music.
“This trio is the fruit of a friendship that has existed for years,” said Omri Epstein.
Omri Epstein, piano; Mathieu van Bellen, violin; and Ori Epstein, cello, have toured all over the world, winning numerous awards as a group and individually.
Levinson, who is also the senior principal associate concertmaster of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, explained the “abstract” Franco-Belgian Connection for this performance. Mathieu van Bellen started playing the violin in Belgium, he said. "(César) Franck was a Belgian who worked and died in Paris. The Franco-Belgian school of violin playing is among the foremost schools of string playing in the history of the craft."
The Chamber Music Society of Fort Worth for the past 35 years has promoted and presented the highest quality chamber music, reflecting innovation, creativity in programming and selection of superior musical artists. CMSFW is dedicated to building an informed audience for chamber music through educational programs, our concerts and the media.
