Homage to Great Artists — CMSFW Ensemble featuring Schubert, Brahms, and a four violin quartet

Sat Sep 12, 2026 1:15 PM - 4:00 PM CDT Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 76107

Violinist and CMSFW Artistic Director Gary Levinson opens the season with an ensemble that includes a unique quartet for four violins. The ensemble also features Danbi Um, violin; Lucas Aleman, violin; Jennifer Betz, violin; and Jihye Chang Sung, piano.

"A talented violinist, (Grażyna) Bacewicz knew how to write for string instruments to produce music which would impress and be comfortable to play; a gifted composer, she was able to write captivatingly. As a result, her compositions are attractive both to musicians and the audiences" (culture.pl).

Program includes:

  • Franz Schubert — Violin Sonata in A Major (“Grand Duo”)
  • Grażyna Bacewicz — Quartet for Four Violins
  • Johannes Brahms — Violin Sonata, No. 3 in D Minor, Op. 108

Artists or program may be subject to change.

The multimedia Pre-Concert Conversation starts at 1:15 p.m. as Mr. Levinson adds insights about the composers and music.

The concert begins at 2:00 p.m.
