The Bereavement Journey is a course for anyone who has been bereaved at any time and in any way.

Loss is a natural part of life, which is necessary for us to work through for our well-being.

Our aim over the course is to provide a safe place where guests can take time out to understand where they are and to explore their loss. Our hope is that everyone will be able to work through their loss and find ways to cope for a good and healthy future

The Bereavement Journey is free, and open to all members of staff at the University of Leicester.

The course comprises seven sessions run over Microsoft Teams, facilitated by members of the Chaplaincy. Each session features two though-provoking videos, as well as time to discuss and reflect.

Topics include:

  • attachement
  • separation and loss
  • the impact and pain of bereavement
  • anger and guilt
  • coping with others' reactions
  • adjusting to change
  • delayed and suppressed grief
  • moving forward healthily

The course runs weekly from 1:00-2:30pm on Thursdays, beginning on 12th February and finishing on 26th March.

To reserve your space on the course, please tap 'Select Tickets'. We will then send you more information and a Teams link for the sessions.

If you have any questions, or would like to find out more about the course first, email chaplains@le.ac.uk and we'd be glad to talk it through with you.

The Bereavement Journey is facilitated by Christian chaplains. However it is open to everyone, regardless of faith, and faith is not discussed in the course. There is an optional seventh session from a faith perspective which anyone is welcome to attend.
