Getting Started with Chapter One: How to Break the Ice with your Pupil
Thu 14 Nov 2024 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM GMT
Online, Zoom
Description
Tips and tricks on how to get to know your pupil in those important first sessions.
Whether you have read with children or mentored in other settings, have four children yourself - or have never even spoken to a 6-year-old and are completely new to this - your first Chapter One sessions can feel a bit awkward. If you are feeling nervous about getting started and are keen to understand how to build a rapport with your pupil, then please join us for this 45-minute live training and development session via Zoom.
The focus of the session will be on sharing tips and ideas on how to break the ice with your pupil in those important early sessions and will be led by Chapter One CEO Emma Bell in conversation with some experienced volunteers.
This session is part of a series of learning and development workshops designed to support our online reading volunteers. All sessions will last approximately 45 minutes with additional time for questions and are suitable for both new volunteers and returning volunteers.
Please note: Last year's Expert View sessions (except Safeguarding) are available on-demand in the Knowledge Base, but we still encourage you to join live this year. Real-time participation offers greater benefits and the opportunity to ask your own questions.
