Gambling-related harm can affect individuals, families, and communities and often occurs alongside wider health, wellbeing and social issues. Gambling Related harms affect millions of people across the UK, including in Leicestershire and Rutland. Gambling related harms is now part of the national suicide prevention strategy and is now curriculum mandated in schools. The training increases awareness of gambling-related harms, builds confidence in supportive conversations, and strengthens understanding of local support pathways. It takes a trauma-informed, stigma-free approach and aligns with national guidance.

This session is for people who may be in a position to train people they work with or regularly interact with groups of both young people and adults. This session has been commissioned by Leicestershire County Council and Rutland County Council and delivered by us at Chapter One

This session will cover:

  • What are Gambling Related Harms (GRH)
  • National and local prevalence rates
  • What are the causes and effects of GRH
  • The commercial determinants affecting GRH
  • Signs and Symptoms of GRH
  • Providing support to those affected
  • Treatment pathways, local support and signposting
  • How to train others to have conversations with adults/ children and young people about gambling related harms


All courses are evidence based, align with NICE Guidelines and remain free of any industry influence.

This session holds an additional ‘Train the Trainer element’, providing attendees with tools and skills to be able to go on to deliver their own gambling related harms sessions to children and young people. This session will include follow up resources, including resources that can be used for people to deliver their own training session, and access to the Trainer Network follow-up sessions.

This sessions is 3 hours in length and will be delivered online via MS Teams. Attendees will receive a link to MS Teams meeting 24 hours before the session.

Please be aware that the training will reference forms of gambling and shows images and audio of gambling related activity. It will also discuss levels of harm up to and including suicide. There are safeguarding procedures in place to ensure delegates safety is paramount.
