Theme: What I have learned
Join us for a morning of insight and reflection as three charity professionals share the lessons they’ve learned throughout their careers.
From their specialist expertise to personal growth and working with others, they’ll reveal the key insights that have shaped their journey—including the advice they wish they could give their younger selves.
This will be a rich and valuable space for learning, discussion, and connection, whether you're a sector veteran, just starting out, or looking for fresh perspectives.
Who is this for?
This event would be relevant to anyone working in the charity sector.
Format:
We will have a talk, mixing game, a panel discussion and small group activities.

Our Panel:
Jess Cross - Head of Service Transformation at the British Red Cross.
Jess is Head of Service Transformation at the British Red Cross, with a background in digital and service transformation programmes. From leading the delivery of end-to end service design projects, to enabling teams to deliver as Director of Digital and Innovation, Jess has experience at all stages of the transformation journey, including the unique challenges and opportunities delivering change within the charity sector offers.
Louise Morris - Summit Fundraising
Louise Morris is a major donor specialist, consultant, coach, international speaker, and trainer. After starting her career at Unilever, she has nearly 20 years of major gifts fundraising experience, including as a Director of Fundraising. She's been a trustee for 6 years and has a Distinction in the Certificate in Philanthropic Psychology.
Since founding Summit Fundraising in 2017, she's worked with over 250 charities including Oxfam, Help for Heroes & small regional causes, helping fundraisers, leaders and trustees raise more large gifts they can be proud of. She's looking forward to joining us sharing learnings from her 20-year career in the private sector, in charity fundraising, and running her own business, Summit Fundraising.
Alexandra Goldstein - Creative director at Definition.
A creative director who's worked in startups, agencies and in-house across most sectors: retail, FMCG, financial services, legal, professional services, media, and of course charity and philanthropy. In her five-year stint in the Dogs Trust digital team they launched the charity's social media presence, often leading the sector with our approach. These days she is back agency-side, working as a writer, trainer and tone of voice consultant with clients including the world's largest education prize and The LEGO Foundation. Alex has been a generalist and a specialist in a patchwork career where she always followed the skills and experiences, never the job title. In hindsight, her late ADHD diagnosis shouldn't have come as a surprise.
Who will you meet at the Charity Meetup?
A diverse network of connections is essential for people and organisations in the non-profit sector. The purpose of the Charity Meetup is to help foster and grow these connections.
The Charity Meetup is a friendly event full of skills sharing, networking and fun, and all are welcome. The event was created by Dawn Newton, after noticing that there were lots of events but nothing which supported participants to network practically through facilitated activities.
Join the discussion about how we can build a thriving future for the charity sector and the practical steps we can take now to work towards it.
