Renowned guitarist Tom Guarna, known for his exceptional talent, is set to grace the stage at Zinc to present a captivating performance of his original compositions.
Tom Guarna, a Grammy-nominated guitarist, composer, and arranger, embarked on his musical journey at the age of fifteen, quickly showcasing his innate musical prowess in both playing and composing. After immersing himself in classical guitar and composition studies at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music in 1986, he honed his skills through local performances in New York and received further education under the guidance of John Abercrombie. In 2008, he achieved a Bachelor's Degree from The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music and followed it up with a Master's Degree from The Juilliard School in 2010.
Having collaborated with numerous jazz ensembles, Tom Guarna made a significant mark when he joined Blood Sweat and Tears in 1995, embarking on extensive tours with them for the subsequent three years. Since then, he has cultivated his distinctive voice as a modern jazz guitarist, gracing the stage with an impressive array of artists, including Wallace Roney, Stanley Clarke, Mark Turner, Branford Marsalis, Randy Brecker, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Mulgrew Miller, Fred Wesley, Mike Clark, Uri Caine, The Allman Brothers, The Yellowjackets, and Gary Bartz.
