WHO IS CHARLIE?
Charlie Vero-Martin is a dynamic comedian, actor and writer with over 16 years experience as an improviser. She teaches improv and character comedy independently as well as for Hoopla Impro and for the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. She has studied clown with Philippe Gaulier, Doc Brown, Mick Barnfather and Dan Lees as well as Trauma Informed Practice with Clowns Without Borders. Her comedy writing and performing credits span BBC Scotland, Radio 4, BBC Three, Hat Trick Productions and Funny Parts. She has written four solo character comedy shows with sell-out performances in Edinburgh, Leicester, VAULT, Glasgow and Soho Theatre as well as a special on Next Up Comedy. In 2023 she was a finalist for the Funny Women Stage Awrd and Leicester Square Theatre - Sketch Off.
As a teacher, Charlie is known for her playful, inclusive, and empowering approach. She creates a safe space for students to take creative risks, push boundaries, and discover their own comedic voice. Her classes focus on building confidence, honing performance skills, and cultivating joy and spontaneity through characters and scene work. Whether coaching absolute beginners or seasoned performers, Charlie's teaching is rooted in fun, curiosity, and respect — with a clear "no dickheads" policy.
Charlie is passionate about helping people reconnect with their sense of play, find freedom on stage, and develop skills that translate into everyday life — from communication and collaboration to intuition and presence. Her teaching blends thoughtful feedback, bold exploration, and a strong sense of community.
