The Investment Credibility Index launch

We are inviting you to attend the launch of The Investment Credibility Index at 6.00pm on Wednesday 23 September in the upstairs room at The Betsey Trotwood pub in Farringdon.

Both Moore Squared Communications and The Maturity Institute understand the importance of financial metrics for asset managers. But a relentless focus on the bottom line fails to account for the impact on the humans at the heart of the business.

That’s why we have teamed up to look beyond the bottom line and created The Investment Credibility Index. This analyses how well asset managers are managing their human systems and their ability to create total stakeholder value.

Total stakeholder value moves beyond shareholder value by providing an assessment of how well a company manages its human capital – is this something to be sacrificed to protect the bottom line or is it a vital contributor to long-term financial health?

Assessing how an asset manager manages its human capital and creates total stakeholder value is not a virtue-signalling exercise.

Asset owners increasingly look for managers which put as much value on stakeholders as shareholders. Creating total stakeholder value is a move away from a short-term transactional mindset towards creating long-term client partnerships.

It is people who take key investment decisions, who communicate success and failure, who help to deliver performance within the right risk parameters and in alignment with client expectation and regulation. A fund manager’s ability to create sustained value arises from the sum of its human parts, including the cultural characteristics, systems, and processes that shape people’s thinking, decisions, and actions.

We will show how representative managers making up our universe have scored. We will explore what separates the top five asset managers from the bottom five. We will be talking through the methodology we applied and how to assess total stakeholder value.

Charlotte Moore will be then moderate a discussion why it is important for asset managers to look beyond the bottom line will be Stuart Woollard, co-founder of The Maturity Institute and Paul Lee, executive chair of the UK endorsement board, the body charged with approving accounting standards to apply in the UK. Two other panellists will be announced soon.

After working in the city as an investment analyst, Charlotte applied her entrepreneurial flair, her passion for fundamental analysis and her endless curiosity to large professional investors. She became an award-winning journalist, specialising in how and why large UK institutions invest the way they do. She co-founded Moore Squared Communications with her sister, Natasha Moore in 2025 – creating a female led family business in the pensions industry. She remains a working journalist and hosts The Professional Investment Podcast.

Stuart co-founded the Maturity Institute, the OMINDEX® Total Stakeholder Value rating system, and most recently, Nexview, a software platform providing leaders with coherent data to make better decisions to maximise business value.

Stuart's work uncovers the causal value connections within organisations. He has assessed and rated hundreds of organisations on their ability to maximise human value and mitigate risk. He has also trained investment professionals, senior executives, and a range of business advisors on how to bridge the gap in understanding and quantifying how people contribute to performance and value.

Paul is executive chair of the UK Endorsement Board, the body charged with approving accounting standards to apply in the UK, and leading the nation's engagement in the international accounting standard-setting process. He is a member of the UK Sustainability Disclosure Technical Advisory Committee, which advises the Secretary of State on sustainability reporting. Paul also sits on the advisory board of leading investment stewardship fintech Impactive Tech.

Paul is an investor by background. Having helped create and build the Equity Ownership Service at Hermes (now Federated Hermes), he also worked at Aberdeen Asset Management and most recently at investment consultant Redington. Over the years he has advised a number of leading fund managers and asset owners as well as developing key pieces of industry best practice. He was the principal author of the CFA Certificate in Sustainable Investing, and maintains a number of its learning modules, as well as developing other training materials and courses for investors and non-executive directors for, among others, CFA UK and the International Corporate Governance Network.

The workshop will last from 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm. Please come for 5.45 pm as we will be starting at 6.00 pm promptly. After the discussion, you are invited to join us for a drink and some networking at the same venue.
