Instead of tasting wines purely from one particular region, for this tasting we will taste four pairs of wines: two whites, two rosés, two reds and two fortified exploring the quality differences between entry-level wines and much more prestigious wines from the same area
In each case we will focus on how wine is made. We will look at the principles of viticulture and vinification for each colour and why it takes much more investment to produce really complex, interesting classy wines!
This tasting will also be my 25th anniversary tasting - marking 25 years since summer 2001 when I passed the Diploma (with hons) of the Wine & Spirit Education Trust and went on to establish a part-time career in wine education: I hope you will journey with me as I seek to share some of what I have learned over that time and wine-making insights in terms of how to produce real quality wines from a range of wine regions I have visited.
The evening will end with a light supper of bread and specially selected cheeses - and there will be chance to retaste the wines with the food.
There is no fixed charge for this event, but the event is arranged in support of the Scottish Refugee Council and we suggest a donation of around £28/person if that is possible (but you are free to give more or less according to your circumstances). If space is available, you can book up to 5 places if you wish to bring friends (but don't delay as there are only 9 places overall for each event). You can also choose to add one donation for all the places your are booking (no need to make a separate payment for each) - and you can even Gift Aid your donation if you are a taxpayer. If you are booking multiple events, you can now check out several bookings together, but please add a donation for each event.
