Active County Cambridgeshire - Rum Old Do (Fundraising Evening)

Following the first day of the Active County Cambridgeshire Conference a fundraising social evening supporting two fantastic transport related charities Living Streets and The Bikeability Trust charities will take place in the Turing Locke Hotel in Eddington Cambridge.  

Hosted by volunteer group Cheers4CharityUK,  the evening will commence with a BBQ buffet and then sample six different rums from around the world and the UK. Each guest will get to sample 2cl of each rum, as your host explains each spirit's location and advises what food and mixer goes well with each sample.

BBQ BUFFET From the Grill (choose from the FOLLOWING)

Flame-grilled British beef burger served in brioche bun with classic garnishes.Grilled Cumberland sausage served with caramelised onions and A soft rollHarissa-marinated chicken thigh, flame-grilled with a smoky finishChargrilled lamb KOFTA served with minted yoghurtVegetarian Options• Grilled halloumi with seasonal Mediterranean vegetables• Plant-based burger served with vegan cheese and burger sauce

Accompaniments

• Charred corn on the cob served with zesty lime crema
• Sliced baby potatoes with wholegrain mustard dressing and fresh herbs
• Light Mediterranean couscous with roasted vegetables, herbs and lemon dressing
• Slow-cooked beans in a rich, smoky BBQ sauce
• Crisp House Slaw with a light, tangy dressing

Desserts

• Summer Berry Eton Mess - Crushed meringue, whipped cream and fresh seasonal berries
• Tropical Fruit Selection - Sliced seasonal tropical fruits

Following the buffet, we will then sample six different rums from around the world and the UK. Each guest will get to sample 20ml of each rum, as your host explains each spirit's location and advises what food and mixer goes well with each sample.

Guest will then be able to score the spirit for how much they enjoyed it, and how much they would pay for the spirit in a bar, giving us an overall winner on the evening.  

The evening will conclude with a prize draw, and bottle auction for the remaining contents of each bottle sampled.
