In the summer of 1984 the legendary trio Stock Aitken Waterman had their first UK top 40 hit with Divine "You think you're a man" this followed a few weeks later by their first top ten hit with Hazell Dean "Whatever I do (Wherever you go)" which reached #4. The year ended with the release of Dead or alive "You spin me round (Like a record)" which became the trios first ever UK number one hit single at the start of 1985, the "Hit Factory" was born. Over the next decade the trio achieved a further dozen UK number one hit singles as well as countless Top 10, Top 40 and Top 75 hit singles alongside best selling albums in 1987, 1988 and 1989 consecutively paving the way in launching some of your favourite artists.
In 2024 we celebrate SAW40 as we "Step back in time" with a night dedicated to those favourite acts and songs from Kylie, Jason, Rick Astley, Bananarama, Sinitta, Sonia, Donna Summer, Samantha Fox, Dead or alive, Hazell Dean, Divine, Big fun, Pat & Mick, Steps and so much more.
