Marvel at the spectacle of the red planet as Luke Jerram’s Mars: War & Peace is coming to Chelmsford Cathedral from Tuesday 21 October – Wednesday 12 November 2025.

This incredible artwork, suspended from the Nave, follows the success of Gaia in 2022, which drew record numbers to the Cathedral. Crafted from detailed NASA imagery, Jerram’s artwork measures six metres in diameter with every valley, crater, volcano and mountain laid bare for inspection on the Martian surface.

But this isn’t just an art exhibition; it’s a conversation. It’s a call to contemplate our place in the universe and our responsibilities to each other on Earth.

Mars: War & Peace is a touring artwork by UK artist Luke Jerram which follows on from his other astronomical artworks Museum of the Moon and Gaia.

Wonder at the Red Planet as this spectacular six metre sculpture of Mars comes to Chelmsford Cathedral in October.
