Dan Pierce is an Anglican priest in Chelmsford Diocese, a husband, father of three sons and former security guard. Having written two poetry collections - the first during covid on prayer (Earlybird and Nightfulness), the second on fasting (A Summer Lent) - in this third book from Kevin Mayhew publishers he writes more prose than poetry but with no less creativity on the subject of masculinity.

Man Made: A Scrapbook Journal Interpreting Masculinity through Advent

This is a book about men rather than for men only. Dan walks us through Advent with six of its men: Zechariah, John the Baptist, Joseph, Herod, Simeon and Jesus. Here Advent is not the subject but the lens, holding, vulnerability and revelation together to interpret masculinity with honesty and tenderness.

“Creative, reflective, challenging, inspiring…” Ruth Valerio

“…we are served by a wise and gentle guide who wants us to experience for ourselves fresh angles on men and masculinity…” Bishop Adam Atkinson

“ This is a wonderfully creative, yet no less scripturally-rooted, contribution to an emerging field of work…” Rev’d Dr Will Rose-Moore

“…rich and timely.” Rupert Shortt

“Keen-eyed insights and profound challenges spring out from every page. Strongly recommended.” Andrew Graystone

The book is available to order online now from kevinmayhew.com

The Cathedral licensed bar will be open on the evening
