About our sustainable fashion campaign
The Sustainable Fashion Show at Blenheim Palace is part of our bigger movement to raise awareness about our impact on the planet, which we refer to as the Carbon Cost. Our Carbon Cost of Fashion campaign helps people understand the impact of producing textiles, and empowers behavioural change through interactive learning and engagement.
The Carbon Cost is a simple way to understand the impact our decisions have. It puts the emissions impact of an item or activity in an easy-to-understand unit: car miles. For example, you could say that the average outfit in the UK has a Carbon Cost of 70 car miles. That means the emissions used to produce the outfit are equivalent to driving a car for around 70 miles. Harvesting, spinning, and dyeing fibres for fabrics among other production processes use large volumes of power that create these emissions.
Our 2024 and 2025 shows saved 20,600 car miles worth of emissions from landfill in fashion show designs and involved 364 community members.
We're here to help you be informed on how to move forward! Visit our website for more information and try our our Sustainable Fashion Quiz to learn about the best choices you can make to reduce the Carbon Cost of your clothing.
