Revivals from Cherylyn Lavagnino Dance’s rich history alongside emerging new studies shared in conversation with the audience.

Cherylyn Lavagnino Dance presents two beloved repertory works alongside its most recent creative research—The Folk Rock Studies—a collection of emerging vignettes set to iconic songs by Nina Simone, Joni Mitchell, and Janis Joplin. These songs, rooted in the folk and rock traditions of the 1960s and ’70s, evoke emotional landscapes of longing and resilience. The movement they inspire is visceral, angular, and deeply felt.

This one-night-only showing offers an inside look at both seasoned repertory and new work in process, framed by conversation with choreographer Cherylyn Lavagnino. The evening culminates in La Mar Emocional, a lyrical new work completed earlier this year—offering a compelling contrast to the grit and pulse of the new studies.

Together, these works invite audiences to witness artistic evolution in real time, reflect on contrasts in tone and structure, and imagine what’s next.
