Chetola Cardboard Sledding Classic

Gather your team and join us on Chetola's sledding hill for the Chetola Cardboard Sledding Classic during Blowing Rock WinterFest. Following the annual Polar Plunge, the hill comes alive with creative craftsmanship, mountain winter adventure, and friendly competition.

Channel your inner engineer, gather a team if you'd like, and design, build, and race a sled constructed entirely from corrugated cardboard and duct tape. We are awarding $500 in total cash prizes across three distinct categories:

• WinterFast: Presented to the fastest sled to cross the finish line.
• Best in Snow: Awarded for the most creative, imaginative, and visually impressive sled design.
• Chetola Cup: Awarded for outstanding overall entry, sportsmanship, and team spirit.

Rules & Construction Guidelines:

To ensure safety and fair competition for all participants, teams must adhere to the following rules:

• Approved Materials: Sled structures must consist strictly of corrugated cardboard and duct tape.
• Prohibited Items: No wood, plastic, metal, fiberglass, mechanical fasteners, ski wax, or oils may be used on the sled.
• Design & Theme: Paint, markers, flags, costumes, and creative themes are highly encouraged!
• Safety Required: Helmets are required for all riders during every run. Riders must provide their own helmet.
• Team Capacity: Sled teams can consist of 1 to 4 riders.

Registration & Participant Waiver:

• Entry is $20 per sled team.
• Liability Waiver: All riders, or a parent or legal guardian for participants under 18 years of age, must sign a release waiver prior to racing. Waivers will be completed upon arrival on site.
• Please note: This event is weather-dependent; in the event of a weather-related cancellation, registration refunds will be available only upon request.

Reserve your spot on Chetola's sledding hill and join us for a memorable morning in the mountains!
