SEND legal rights training: Navigating a system in transition - online and in person

Children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) possess the same fundamental rights to education, dignity, and equality as their peers. However, systemic pressures often leave these entitlements misunderstood. Drawing on the Children’s Law Centre’s extensive legal experience, this essential training cuts through complexity to provide a practical understanding of the legal framework protecting vulnerable learners.

We will explore the statutory assessment process, the legal enforceability of statements, and robust appeal rights via SENDIST. Crucially, this session covers all recent and proposed changes, including the transition from five to three stages of provision and the rollout of Personal Learning Plans (PLPs). Participants will gain an overview of the Department of Education’s reform agenda and the ongoing end-to-end review, ensuring you are equipped to use the law to prevent unfair treatment and vindicate children's rights.
