CMA-LA Presents: Inside the Table Read

Ever wonder what it's really like inside a professional table read? Here's your chance to find out!

This event gives emerging children's writers and storytellers a rare, behind-the-scenes look at how a professional table read comes to life, in real time, in the room.

For this live session, 2-3 writers’ scripts (11 minutes each, original ideas not specs) will be selected in advance. Each script will be read by professional actors and will then receive feedback by professionals: head writers, TV executives, producers, and experienced writers.

Together, we'll break down characters, structure, stakes, tone, and story direction, uncovering opportunities to make each script even stronger.

Our goal? A lively, supportive, and practical space where writers can hear honest feedback, watch creative decisions unfold firsthand, and get a real feel for the collaborative magic behind building a story. We'll also have some special guests in the room, making this a one-of-a-kind chance to learn, connect, and soak in the energy of the room!
