Kaiako at Play
Join playful spirits Toni and Robin Christie for a wide-ranging and playful day exploring the joy and wonder of teaching and learning with children under 6. The work we do everyday alongside our youngest citizens has never been more important, yet sometimes it can seem as if we’re struggling just to keep up, let alone creating meaningful experiences and beautiful environments in our services’ day-to-day curriculum and practise. This day will delight and inspire kaiako as we take a fast-paced journey across the early childhood curriculum sharing ideas celebrating the many influential roles of playful, curious adults in ECE. Participants will take home practical ideas that can be implemented and enjoyed through play straight away.
Registration will include morning tea & a light lunch
Programme:
Play is good for you! - Toni and Robin Christie
The reciprocal nature of learning between child and adult relies on a shared language - the language of play. This universal language is unspoken, and is strongest in the presence of curious, wondrous, joyous educators. You are already fluent in this language, and the amazing diversity of playful approaches you bring to your ECE setting is a huge strength of our profession! This entertaining and thought- provoking session will reinforce the importance of playful adults in children's learning, examine the research around the role of humour in human development, and share practical tips for staying playful every day.
An introduction to Zentangle
