Pathways to School
Presented by Becca Bown
Pathways to School
Starting school is a significant milestone for tamariki and their whānau. How can we, as kaiako, ensure this transition is a positive, supported and meaningful experience for every child?
In this session, we will explore what school readiness really means and how kaiako, whānau and tamariki can work collaboratively to prepare for this change in a child’s learning journey. Through reflective discussions and practical activities, we will examine how we can support children's emotional wellbeing, strengthen partnerships with whānau and schools and foster continuity of learning.
We will reflect on what you already do well, identify opportunities for growth, and develop practical ideas to strengthen your transition-to-school practices.
Join us to share ideas, challenge perspectives and discover ways to ensure every tamaiti feels confident, connected and supported as they take their next steps in their learning journey. You will walk away from this course with practical ideas you can immediately implement in your setting.
Course runs from 1pm-4pm (afternoon tea provided). Becca will also be presenting a second course in this venue on this day, Growing Quality Documentation and Planning for Individual Learners , from 9am-12noon on May 29th 2027 if you are interested in a full day of professional development.
