Your hosts, Toni & Robin Christie will lead this 5 day adventure and you will have the opportunity to explore the stunning environments of Childspace, observe children and teachers interacting in these environments, explore a bit of Wellywood, and attend a series of workshops at the Childspace Institute.
This study tour runs from Friday 17 –Tuesday 21 November 2023.
PROGRAMME:
Friday 17 November, 4pm:
Official welcome and opening of the tour celebrated through a traditional Māori whakatau. Introductions, tour outline and materials, and opening address from Toni and Robin.
Saturday 18 November, 9am–4pm:
Centre Tours – lunch and transport included. Meet at Childspace Institute for centre tours. Morning tours of all four Childspace centres and the workshop. Returning to the Institute for reflection, an afternoon of workshops and discussion, and finish the day with a happy hour and creative experience. The evening is free to explore Wellington and taste NZ cuisine.
Sunday 19 November:
Free Day to explore Wellington and NZ Culture. Information on tours and cultural experiences will be provided as part of your welcome pack.
Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 November, 8.30am–3.30pm:
Tours and Workshops – lunch and transport included. We will divide into small groups to observe within specific centres of interest each morning. Observation time will allow an opportunity to view morning tea and lunch rituals as well as sleepers at the younger centres and the programme in operation. Return to the institute for our own lunch ritual. Afternoon reflection, questions, discussion and workshops will take place with various speakers at our institute. Official farewell and closing of the tour celebrated through the traditional Māori Poroporoaki.
