The prospect of beginning school can, for some tamariki and their whānau, be both exhilarating and daunting. To ensure a smooth pathway for early childhood into primary school education, it helps to have some preparedness and vision as to how this will occur.

Participants will

• Explore what school readiness in tamariki looks like and discuss the skills that we can foster in children to help them succeed at school
• Discuss what early literacy and numeracy should look like in an early childhood setting
• Learn about what a quality pathway to school looks like from the perspectives of tamariki, whānau and Kaiako
• Make links between Te Whāriki and the New Zealand curriculum and how we can include this in our assessment and planning
• Discuss some strategies to support whānau during the pathway to school process.

This event runs from 9am - 12pm.
