Square Dancing: How do you guangchang wu? Free afternoon workshop

Sun 24 Sep 2017 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM BST

China Exchange, W1D 6JA

Description

Find out why 100 million people in China enjoy public square dancing regularly with free guangchang wu (广场舞)workshops in London's Chinatown and finishing with a series of final performances at Southbank Centre in the vibrant 2017 China Changing festival.

Suitable for all ages and abilities, join our dance leaders to learn dance routines that are best performed in large groups and understand what makes China's famous dancing aunties (大妈) so committed to their daily dance sessions. Warning: guangchang wu may be addictive! Sign up for as many of the practice sessions as you wish – we ask for a minimum commitment of one workshop and joining the performance on Saturday 7 October.

Workshops and rehearsals are led in English by teachers from Goldsmith's Confucius Institute for Dance and Performance. Square Dancing: How do you guangchang wu? is delivered in partnership with Southbank Centre as part of China Changing festival.
