Chinmaya Mission UK is very pleased to offer Shishu Vihar, Bala Vihar and Junior CHYK Classes in Sutton.

Class Time: Sunday 10:30 AM to 12:00 AM

Shishu Vihar classes are for parents and children aged 2 to 5 years. Sowing the seeds of spiritual wisdom in young hearts, this is a unique class for toddlers and pre-school children to attend with their parents.

The early years in a child’s life are the formative years, when a child absorbs information and develops the values to shape their character in years to come.

Shishu Vihar helps to develop the spiritual aspect of the young child’s personality by focusing on imparting values and culture. Classes follow a modern structure of playgroups where babies and toddlers learn through simple stories from the Scriptures. They sing Bhajans and nursery rhymes, play games to develop motor skills and participate in arts and crafts that foster mental personalities in an atmosphere of love and knowledge. To learn more, visit https://www.chinmayauk.org/shishu-vihar/

Bala Vihar classes are Hindu spiritual and cultural classes for children from the UK school year Reception to year seven. Children will be allocated to age-appropriate classes within this range. Junior CHYK classes are for year eight onward.

These classes provide spiritual and cultural orientation to children and teens of the modern age. Swami Chinmayananda (founder of Chinmaya Mission) created the Bala Vihar system to enable parents to raise children with a reverence for Indian culture, to create self-confidence and inspire children to serve and act cheerfully. Bala Vihar provides children an atmosphere to grow with noble ideals and fulfil their potential.

Classes are conducted by trained volunteers (sevaks) who provide interactive and fun value education classes drawing from timeless Indian Scriptures (Mahabharata, Bhagavatam, Puranas and the Ramayana), Vedic philosophy and other facets of Hindu culture.

The stories, games, celebration of festivals and creative activities enable children to connect with Indian culture in an engaging way. The Sanskrit prayers, bhajans and chanting give them a solid grounding in Hindu culture and the eternal values presented in story form are drawn from the vast gamut of Indian Scripture.

Chinmaya Mission exists to provide individuals from any background, the universal wisdom of Vedanta and the practical means for personal growth and development, enabling them to become positive contributors to society. We are a registered charity in the UK (charity number: 1077622). To learn more, visit https://www.chinmayauk.org/bala-vihar
