Poetry readings by RNLI lifeboatman Edmund Hall at Chiswick Pier

Chiswick Pier hosts an evening of poetry and anecdotes from RNLI lifeboatman Edmund Hall at The Pier House from 7pm on Tuesday 20th January 2026.

Ed, a regular RNLI volunteer at the Chiswick lifeboat station, recently published an illustrated book of Thames-inspired poems which he will be reading from during the evening, as well as sharing some of his adventures along the river.

The book is illustrated by Gary Partridge, a Coldstream Guards veteran turned artist and contains a foreword by Sir Ian McKellen.

“Ed Hall’s poems are intensely personal, written about his time spent on and by the River Thames. They record high drama alongside wistful reverie, all linked by his unsentimental love of the ancient waterway… I commend them to you.”
Sir Ian McKellen

Doors open and refreshments available from 6.30pm on 20th January, at The Pier House, Corney Reach Way, W4 2UG. Tickets £5/free for Chiswick Pier members.
