Urban Sketching at Chiswick Pier 2026

Urban Sketching at Chiswick Pier – FREE event. Part of Totally Thames Festival 2026

Join Urban Sketchers London on a 'Sketchwalk' along Chiswick riverside on Sunday 13th September and celebrate the River Thames by drawing it, as part of this year's Totally Thames celebrations organised by Thames Festival Trust. [Image credit: Michael Field Urban Sketcher 2025]

No previous experience necessary to get involved and have a go at drawing the riverside stretch between Barnes Rail Bridge and Chiswick Mall. You need to bring your own drawing materials, dress for the weather and maybe bring a friend or too and some packed lunch. 

By registering for this event you will also receive updates and a help sheet with information about the Urban Sketchers group. If you don’t want to make a donation, which is absolutely fine, please change the £2 suggested amount to zero before registering.

Shelter, and access to loos, will be provided by Chiswick Pier Trust at The Pier House, Corney Reach Way W4 2UG. Doors open to participants from 10.30am. The wonderful Forge & Orchard coffee bike will be on the site from 8am offering refreshments. The Pier House hall is available to participants until 3.30pm as a place to rest and chat.

KEY TIMES & MEETING POINTS:

• 11am – Urban Sketchers London welcome/introduction at The Pier House. Sketchers disperse and choose views to sketch along Chiswick riverside from Barnes Bridge to Dukes Meadows and the embankment around Chiswick Pier.
• 1pm – Sketchers meet again at The Pier House to ‘throwdown’ (share) artwork on the steps in front of Chiswick Pier.
• 3.30pm – Final throwdown outside The Pier House.
• Afterwards – For those who would like to stay on for a drink and chat (and sketch!) we will head to The Black Lion, 2 South Black Lion Lane 26 9TJ.
