Every Thursday night during school term time a group of musicians gather to learn and play a selection of traditional British and Irish folk songs at Coda Music Centre near Christchurch, Dorset. This has been happening since November 2009 and to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of these sessions we are going to things just a little bit differently at this autumns earthouse session. To start the evening off there will be soup and time to get settled in around the fire. Then, the Folk Orc Regular Sessions Band (those musicians who play on a Thursday night and Coda Music centre) are going to perform a set of specially selected and arranged songs from the Folk Orc Repertoire and then this will be followed by a Songbook Session where everyone is invited to join in.

If your idea of a good evening is sat in an earthouse around an open fire on a winters evening whilst playing and/or listening to some raucous folk music then this evening is for you.

6.30PM - Doors Open

7 - 7.30PM - Soup (Pumpkin)

8 - 9PM - The Folk Orc Regular Sessions Band 15th Anniversary Performance

9.30 - 10.30PM - Song book Session

Here is how it works: This is a 'Songbook Session', which means that we randomly select songs from one or more of The Folk Orc repertoire songbooks and play them. Bring your instrument along with you, as long as it is acoustic, and join in. Don't play? come along and sing, or just listen. Worried you won't be able to keep up? Don't, play what you can, and if that means you hold on to one chord all night and just strum along the best you can then thats fine by us. The Folk Orc is all about getting you playing, so whatever your age or ability, you are welcome to join in with us.

At the beginning of the evening there will be some homemade soup being served for those that want it. If you have purchased a soup ticket then please bring a mug and spoon. There are no other refreshments provided so please bring your own drink, you are welcome to bring a picnic dinner if you wish but we would ask that you take all your rubbish home with you please.
