YOUR SEXTS ARE SHIT: OLDER BETTER LETTERS

Dear Reader,

It’s Valentine’s season and Rachel Mars hits the theatre with a gloriously rude show that unearths the hot-as-hell letters that make sexts blush. Before sexts there were hand-written letters. And loads of them were proper filthy. With the help of the internet, friends and two sexologists, Rachel has unearthed missives dating back centuries. Triangulating these sex and love letters of long dead artists and writers with contemporary sexts and a meditation on the construction of the queer female body, the show is a tender and surprising hour that asks - how do we write ourselves and for whom?Bring your lovers, your ex-lovers or your perhaps-future lovers! Take pleasure in James Joyce’s passion for arse, find out who sneaked her gay lover into the White House, hear from Frida Kahlo, Georgia O’Keeffe, Mozart and bear witness to the best/worst sexts ever sent. This delightfully intimate, very funny and surprisingly moving show is an erotic archive shot through with Rachel’s personal ventures in contemporary Queer kink.

Yours, Rachel Mars

It’s Valentine’s season — and Rachel Mars arrives with a gloriously rude, funny and unexpectedly tender show.

Before sexts, there were letters.

And many of them were proper filthy.

With the help of the internet, friends, and two sexologists, Rachel has unearthed centuries-old sex and love letters that make modern sexts blush. These intimate missives — written by artists, writers and historical figures — are set alongside contemporary sexts and a deeply personal meditation on the construction of the queer female body.

The result is an erotic archive: sharp, hilarious, moving, and full of heart.

This is a show about desire, intimacy, and how we write ourselves into being.

Who are we writing for?

And what happens to desire when communication becomes faster, shorter, and disposable?

Bring your lovers.

Your ex-lovers.

Your perhaps-future lovers.

An intimate, funny, filthy and thoughtful hour of theatre — perfect for Valentine’s week (or anyone who’s ever sent, received, or regretted a sext).
