DARK MATTERS is a modern-gothic season at Circle & Star — five works across one October fortnight, 14–31 October 2026, drawn from the literature and music that live in the shadow of the imagination. Narrated, sung and spoken, each night turns the fifty-five-seat room to the dark — not for shock, but for clarity. This is one of the five.

Love, guilt and the afterlife collide in a darkly funny psychological horror.

Married couple Lucas and Felicity spiral through infidelity, resentment and longing — only to find that some mistakes don't end when life does. A booze-soaked satire of modern love curdles into a surreal nightmare of bureaucratic receptionists and unsettling strangers, where hell is not fire and brimstone but being trapped forever with the consequences of who we really are.

What if being “good” was the hardest thing of all?

A new play by Julia Pagett, directed by Andrew Hollingworth. Five nights in a fifty-five-seat room — where there is nowhere for the characters to hide, and nowhere for you to look away.
