His acclaimed one-man production tours the UK each December, and this year it comes to Hampstead for the heart of our Christmas. Dickens’ own abridged text. Twenty-seven characters. One performer, one top hat, one overcoat — and a single coat stand for company. From Scrooge’s bark to Tiny Tim’s whisper, every soul in the tale — conjured in a room that was here when Dickens himself was alive and writing. You can almost feel the history in the walls: a theatre of fifty-five, and nothing between you and the story.
