On Wednesday 7 October, Lee Mack comes to Circle & Star for a benefit night created especially for our little Hampstead theatre.

There will be stories. There will be quick answers. There may be a joke or two. And, because this is Circle & Star, the room may have plans of its own.

Joining Lee on stage is Steve Furst — comedian, writer and Circle & Star's artistic director — along with a special musical guest to be announced closer to the night.

This is a one-off evening, made for this room. Fifty-five people, one extraordinary guest and the kind of closeness that allows every glance, pause and perfectly timed answer to become part of the occasion.

All proceeds from the night go to Circle & Star Theatre.

Created, co-written by and starring Lee, the BBC sitcom has been on our screens for twenty years. It has reached 106 episodes across 14 broadcast series, with its fifteenth on the way — making it the longest-running British sitcom currently on air.

Lee has occupied the team captain's chair since the programme began in 2007. Nineteen series later, his exchanges with David Mitchell and Rob Brydon remain among the sharpest and best-loved minutes on British television.

THE 1% CLUB
Lee's Saturday-night quiz regularly attracts more than five million viewers. Since launching, it has been streamed more than 60 million times and reached over 43 million viewers.

Lee won the 2020 BAFTA for Best Entertainment Performance and began, as a good many of the best do, by winning So You Think You're Funny? at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 1995.
