The evening

New Year’s Eve, Palm Springs, 1979. Sinatra and the seventies are not a good fit. He hates retirement; his comeback album has flopped. The concerts still sell — he can fill a room — but he feels out of step with the times, and he is chasing the one big hit that might redefine him all over again.

Told through music and song from the privacy of his Palm Springs den — on New Year’s Eve, with a small group of invited showbiz pals — this is not the Sinatra of the greatest-hits package. This is the man after midnight: the doubt behind the swagger, the wit, the temper, the voice. A stool, a microphone, a bottle of Jack Daniel’s, and live piano.

Written and directed by Bert Tyler-Moore, creator of The Windsors and Star Stories, with additional material by and starring multi-award-winner Richard Shelton — following his critically acclaimed Sinatra: RAW, which wowed critics worldwide.
