In this 2-hour online workshop, we'll use the simple idea of "the uninvited guest" to generate new writing, whatever stage you're at. Whether you're writing a thriller, a comedy, a gothic historical novel, sci-fi or fantasy, this workshop is sure to unlock new possibilities in your work. 

We'll start by writing a scene of ordinary life - a room, a routine, a relationship - before anything happens. Then we'll introduce a disruption and follow its consequences, exploring how a single arrival can reshape a story, a character, or a space.

CJ Cooke is an award-winning, bestselling novelist. Having spent the last 20+ years teaching creative writing, she leads this workshop with the aim of helping writers of all levels to master the fundamentals of storytelling through a powerful premise.
