Who is this for?
This is for any curious experimenter who's kinda scared of math but wants to...
- Gain confidence in the language and concepts used within experimentation, and
- Level-up their experimental design to collect reliable A/B testing data.
If you love experimenting, but you're intimidated by p-values and confused by type I and type II errors—this is for you.
If you're a data scientist, statistician, or stats whiz—you probably know this stuff already.
What will I learn? Most people learn experimentation concepts in a piecemeal way. So, the "big picture" of how the concepts within experimentation fit together is fuzzy. In this workshop, Erin pulls all the experimental design concepts together, covers them one-by-one (with pictures!), and shows you clearly how they all fit together. Once you have the big picture, she'll walk you through her Good Experimental Design Toolkit to put it into practice.
The Good Experimental Design Toolkit is a series of step-by-step templates to help you and your team structure your thought process to design effective experiments.
Erin uses plain language, clear examples, and hands-on exercises to share not only the theory behind experimentation, but also the day-to-day application.
Come ready to have fun and accidentally learn stuff along the way.
What does the workshop cover? The goal of this session is to give non-"mathpeople" a firmer grasp on how to use A/B testing and statistics to get data you can learn from.
In this workshop you will...
- Learn the history of good experimental design
- Be less scared of statistics and understand its confusing terminology (p-values, confidence intervals, alpha and beta, error types, etc.)
- Understand what high-quality experiment design looks like
- Practice designing a few high-quality experiments
- Leave with a toolkit to make designing good experiments easy as pie
Breakfast, refreshment breaks and lunch is included.
